Seven Dandy Uses For Video Surveillance Cameras
Who says video surveillance cameras are only for crime prevention? Used the right way and stationed properly, they can be a very fearsome tool for marketing and advertising. Experts the whole world over are now utilizing video surveillance cameras to make better informed decisions about safety, check compliance to standards, rake in more sales, and improve customer service.
The following are some of the uses for video surveillance cameras in the business world.
1. Compliance monitoring
Compliance monitoring is useful in industries where standard operating procedures have to be strictly followed. Through video surveillance cameras, managers of restaurants or hotels can determine whether or not their staffs are following proper sanitation measures. They can also check if their chefs are observing proper food handling and preparation procedures. Video surveillance cameras are also very useful in cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. They can monitor vital parts of the production process, such as processing and packing.
2. Construction progress monitoring
Video surveillance cameras mounted in construction areas allow project managers to show construction progress to clients, investors, and stakeholders. Because a construction site is hardly an environment conducive for surveillance, the cameras being used should be weatherproof. Additionally, it is recommended that you use video surveillance cameras that have infrared and lowlight capabilities, so that nighttime images can be captured clearly.
3. Performance monitoring
This is the most popular use for video surveillance cameras in the workplace. With the use of video surveillance cameras, companies can keep an eye on employee’s on-the-job performance and their use of company time. In addition, video surveillance helps management identify customer patterns. This is particularly useful in restaurants, where managers have to identify peak hours during the day so as to maximize scheduling arrangements.
4. Traffic regulation and systems monitoring
Video surveillance technology in the form of photo enforcement, for example, helps officials recognize traffic flow and congestion areas. In some cities, camera images of streets and important routes are displayed on websites, to help drivers anticipate traffic problems.
5. Remote telepresence
This use of video surveillance cameras requires that the cameras be positioned in locations not accessible to humans. Examples of these locations include the ocean, the bottom of the sea, desert landscapes, or the insides of a human body. Data from this highly specialized use of video surveillance cameras are used in various practical applications, such as solving medical problems, investigating disputes over natural resources, saving endangered species, and studying the behavior of life forms thriving in their natural environments.
6. Improved customer relations
Video surveillance cameras clue management in on the type of attitude staff members are projecting towards customers. In department stores, for example. video surveillance cameras show how customers are greeted and how their questions are answered.
7. Marketing
Nothing beats the performance and dependability of video surveillance cameras at compiling demographic data of malls, resorts, amusement parks, and tourist attractions. Another usage for these cameras is identification of traffic pattern. For example, a department store could use video surveillance cameras to track foot traffic so that they can position their merchandise in key zones. These key zones are places at a clothing store, for instance, that receive the most human traffic.
It has been said that a weapon is only as deadly as its user. The same is true of video surveillance cameras. It exists as a modern marketing and advertising tool, but it will only be effective to the extent you allow it to be.

Video Surveillance Cameras Make Your Car Road-worthy
Your vehicle darts along the road, continuing to speed faster and faster. You press on the brakes, and discover you’ve lost control over the vehicle’s breaking system! Seconds later, you hit a wall. Proving Newton’s law that “for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction,” your head whips back against the headrest. The airbag, which ballooned on impact, cushions your head. With your cranium buried in the inflated airbag, you feel like a dummy, and that is precisely what you are – a crash test dummy. To optimize what they could learn from you, researchers had placed a video surveillance camera on the wall. Such cameras remain useful throughout the life of an automobile.
The Production
From start to finish, the production of an automobile is a very precise and meticulous process. Video surveillance cameras are vital in ensuring that quality control is always maintained. They are mainly used for inspecting many parts, verifying that parts have been positioned properly and in 3D guidance of robots. For instance “smart” cameras are frequently used in various stages of automobile production. The camera helps robots “learn” certain parts. The robots, in turn, use a “vision processor” to verify that a correct product has been installed.
Along an automobile assembly line, video surveillance cameras are also used to monitor the totally automated installation of the windshield and rear-window. Cameras ensure that parts, such as panels, have been positioned accurately onto the vehicle’s body.
The Testing
Many tests are conducted on automobiles. These are carried out to improve their quality and safety. One example is the crash test. High speed cameras, which can capture more frames per second than other cameras, are used. The camera helps to detail what happens to the passenger and automobile during the crash. Due to the high cost of crash tests, these cameras are invaluable in helping researchers obtain as much data as possible from the test. A video surveillance camera can be used for other types of tests on cars. For example, the road test checks whether or not the car is worthy to be driven on roads. Lastly, a video surveillance camera can be used to enforce quality control at emissions test centers, where the amount of pollutants that a vehicle produces is tested.
The Protection
In addition to assisting in the production and testing of automobiles, video surveillance cameras can also be used to safeguard automobiles from auto theft, a grave problem in America. Consider the following statistics.
* Every year, over one million vehicles are stolen in the United States.
* In 2005, the 2001 BMW M Roadster was the most frequently stolen passenger vehicle in the United States.
* In 2006, more vehicles were stolen in Las Vegas than in any other metropolitan area in the United States.
Mounted in places such as driveways, parking lots, parking garages, and car alarm stores, video surveillance cameras are valuable in protecting one’s investment. In addition to capturing visual evidence against car thieves, they also serve as a deterrent for those who are thinking about taking someone else’s Jaguar, Road Runner, or Bug.
There is no doubt that from the assembly line to the junkyard, video surveillance cameras shift gears to play vital roles in the lives of automobiles.

Hidden DVR Cameras – For Home and Business Security
Hidden cameras have come a long way. They were at one time available for law enforcement and government use. Now days, hidden cameras are available to everyone who may have a need to surveill an area where they suspect there is a problem.
Have you ever had a problem with your neighbor? Or how about vandalism around the outside of your house? You may have an idea who the culprit is, but you do not have positive proof. With a hidden camera, in particular the floodlight hidden dvr camera You can mount to a wall and nobody will know they are being recorded. It works just like a motion floodlight. When the culprit enters the area to be recorded, the hidden camera is motion activated. Now you have what you need to take to the authorities.
Do you own a business, any business. Do you feel you are being ripped off. Your inventory is off. You can’t figure out why? Money is constantly missing and you cannot pin it on anyone? Place one of these hidden dvr cameras in the area you need to be recorded and you will catch you thief. Years ago, I was in the liqour business. I could not fiqure out why and where all the Absolut vodka was disappearing to. Only wish I had one of these hidden cameras. Turns out after months of trying to find out what happened, a low level stock clerk was taking the vodka out the back door with the garbage. The exit sign hidden camera would have been a great help.
These are only a couple of examples for the use of a hidden dvr camera.
Here is some information on these cameras. With these hidden cameras you do not need to hook them up to your vcr or dvd recorder. There is a built in dvr that records to a sd card. You put the hidden camera where you want it and plug it in. Most come with motion detection area masking. If you have an area where cats, dogs or rodents roam, you do not want to record them. You can mask the lower quarter of the field of vision so it does not detect motion.
These hidden cameras are concealed in different everyday objects; exit sign, floodlight, boombox, alarm clock, wall clock to name a few.
These hidden cameras will not prevent a crime but you will have the evidence to prosecute the bad guy!

Cape Coral Florida Video Surveillance Cameras
Here’s my presentation to Cape Coral City Council meeting concerning video surveillance cameras in my city. Here’s the letter I sent to my Councilman: Derrick Donnell (Cape Coral City Council Member), It is a gross understatement to say that I am fed up with the video surveillance cameras popping up all over our city. Currently I am “asking” for them to be disabled and removed. Especially the ones mounted on traffic light booms at intersections pointed directly in my windshield at my face, and pointed at your face, and pointed at everyone else’s face as well. They are just bad on so many levels. You can find good information about them at this link: consumercal.blogspot.com A few questions I would like to have answered: 1) What is or are the name or names of the city officials who authorized the county to install the video surveillance cameras in my city, on my city streets? 2) Are there plans and blueprints regarding the installation of those camera systems, submitted by the county to the city for review and inspection, in order to maintain compliance with all city ordinances and regulations thereof? If so, can I see these plans and approval by our city inspectors? 3) The video feeds from those cameras go into utility boxes, usually located next to the traffic light control boxes. Is the public land on which those boxes are installed and located being leased or sold? How much money is the city getting from the county for allowing the county the privilege of having them …
